Jazz Coach Jerry Sloan Signs 1 Year Contract Extension
Jazz sign Coach Sloan to 1-year extension
SACRAMENTO, Feb. 7 (UPI) -- Utah Jazz head Coach Jerry Sloan said Monday he has inked a one-year contract extension with the team.
Sloan told NBA.com in Sacramento his latest deal will keep him behind the Jazz bench through the end of next season.
"I've already signed a contract for next year," he told the Web site. "That's been since, maybe, around the first of the year. I don't remember what the date was on it. I never pay any attention to it. They offered it to me and I signed it."
Sloan is the longest-tenured head coach in NBA history and has coached the Jazz since taking over for Frank Layden Dec. 9, 1988.
He is by far the franchise's most winningest coach with a 1,126-681 mark over 22-plus seasons.eps
