Jim Fuchuck Salt TV Sports Anchor/Correspondent
As a child Jim attended National Hockey League Games with his father
and thus, was the first kid on his block to call a hockey player a
bumb. From the time Don Cherry nicknamed Jim “Hardy Astrom
Jr.” (Old goalie for The Colorado Rockies in the late 70’s)
Jim’s had sport-casting in blood. Jim’s a multi media guy as
he’s been a television sports caster in Minot, North Dakota at KMOT-
TV and at WQAD in Moline, Illinois. And a radio sports personality
for 1320 KFAN and 1280 The Zone. During Jim’s 15 years in the media
he’s covered The Indy 500, The 2002 Olympic Winter Games, NBA
Finals, NFL playoff games, The NCAA’s Mens Final Four (including the
University of Utah’s surprising tournament run led by Center Andrew
Bogut) and many College Football Bowl Games (including the 2004
Fiesta Bowl where he The University of Utah defeated The University
of Pittsburgh).
Favorite event attended as a fan:
Game 4 of the 2004 World Series in which The Boston Red Sox defeated
The Colorado Rockies 4-3 to sweep the series.
Favorite moments of live games seen:
1986 Dan Marino and The Miami Dolphins visit John Elway and The
Denver Broncos-Marino hits Nat Moore in stride while not looking at
him, the play results in a 60 yard td, Dolphins still lose the game.
Jim’s a big fan of many NFL running backs, but one of his favorite
moments was witnessing Walter Payton leaping in the air for a 1 yard
TD run.
Seeing Wayne Gretzky (5 times) but he really liked it when he saw
Gretzky score his first goal of the 1994-95 season.
An avid fly fisherman, Jim lives to spend his days in any of Utah’s
many fishing holes. Jim’s a big time hiker who can’t get enough of
nature.
